Our Mission
San Pancho Animales’ mission is to eliminate animal suffering in and around the pueblo of San Francisco, Nayarit, Mexico. We strive to provide education and veterinary services to shape an environment of care and compassion towards animals.
San Pancho Animales comprises a group of volunteers dedicated to providing free spay/neuter services to animals in the community. We are a USA non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which allows donations to be tax-deductible. Volunteers and a staff of Mexican veterinarians host at least one clinic each year, sometimes two if adequate funds are available.
We also provide, when needed, emergency services, which include but are not limited to spaying and neutering between clinics, assisting owners with emergency care due to injury or illness, and assistance with food in dire situations, providing foster care when needed and encouraging positive relationships with owners and their companion animals.
We provide adoption services for dogs and cats (and occasionally donkeys, chickens, horses, and cows). We assist people with animals that are adopted and will be traveling out of the country. This assistance is often payment for required vaccinations, certificates and permits, cages, and sometimes contributions to airfare.
Our involvement with animal rescue has its moments of anguish, but is usually followed by pure joy for the animal being adopted and the wonderful humans who open their hearts to these special cases.

About San Pancho
San Francisco Mexico, affectionately known to the locals as San Pancho, is still a relatively undiscovered piece of paradise, hidden along the largely unspoiled Pacific Coast of the state of Nayarit, also known as Riviera Nayarit. This quaint little fishing village has become increasingly popular with visitors from all over the world who come here to enjoy our peaceful setting, sparkling sea, and incredible sunsets. Some of us were so taken with the tranquility of the area, we just gave up our visitor status and stayed!
The area is surrounded by a lush palm rain forest, the Sierra Madre Mountain range, and the Pacific Ocean, providing us a warm, tropical climate. Our proximity to Puerto Vallarta (25 miles south of San Pancho) allows us to enjoy the amenities of one of Mexico’s most popular tourist resort towns, but the ability to scurry back at the day’s end to the tranquility that defines San Pancho.
Over the past 21 years, with spay/neuter clinics and animal awareness programs, there has been a marked improvement in the care and respect of animal life around the entire community of San Pancho. However, from time to time, we still encounter abused or malnourished animals but, thankfully, the frequency is not as prevalent as in the past. Your donations and efforts are working to improve the lives of all animals in San Pancho.
